IMMUNOTHERAPY

Immunotherapy is a special treatment for patients with confirmed allergy on allergy testing such as blood test (RAST) or skin prick test. It is the most effective treatment for respiratory allergy such as allergic rhinitis (Hay Fever) and asthma. It offers a potential cure for allergic disorders. The treatment can be taken either in an injectable route (subcutaneous) or oral route (sublingual). The total duration of immunotherapy is between 3 and 5 years. It can be applied to a range of allergens such as dust mites, grass pollens, cat fur, dog hair, moulds and bee venom. The concept of immunotherapy has been known for more than a century. It is an effective and safe treatment option for patients who suffer from allergic rhinitis and asthma.
